Before I got introduced to the enlightening poetry of Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan, I knew him only as father to one of my favorite actor Amitabh Bachchan. Though, I also knew that he was one of most renowned poet of India, but I never read his poetry since I was not very much interested in Hindi poetry with tough words to understand.

But as I got hold of one small poem in a book by the great mystic OSHO, I was completely mesmerized by the beauty of Hindi language used innovatively in those few lines. That made me read the immortal poetry by the pioneer Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan. You may find some of his poems difficult but there are certain gems in his books which are capable of teaching you the way of life. His words are spiritual and make you sit back and think about yourself and how you are living your valuable days.

I would like to share those few lines which introduced me to the great poet.

These lines say,

“When I came to know about the injustice done to me, I was angry. And I was angry at all. As I started shouting to make my anger felt…….calmly the learned people of the world said….”Cool down, and don’t do this…….., as it has been done many times before in this world, so there is no use…don’t get so overboard……cool down……..and don’t do this…”

And now whenever I feel I have been cheated, I have been done injustice, I just read these lines and get calm…….
