Bachna Ae Haseeno – Inspired Western Theme with Indianized twists & turns.

If you feel that “Bachna Ae Haseeno” is a new & original story idea then you must see John Cusack’s “High Fidelity” (2000) in which he also tries to find out why his affairs were not successful in the past. And then goes back to his girlfriends asking them the reasons of their breakups. The only difference is that here Ranvir goes back to say sorry for his deeds to his past girlfriends.

The theme of the movie also has similarities with “Definitely, Maybe” in which the hero tries to explain his divorce and past relationships with three different women to his 11 years old daughter.

First half of “Bachna Ae Haseeno” also has acute resemblance to “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge” and even the characters talk about the film in their scenes.

Bhoothnath – “Casper”

The very first scene of “Bhootnath” is exactly the same as in “Casper”, where two youngsters enter a haunted house. But from there onwards the film takes a socal and family drama turn. Still the good and loving ghost subject seems highly inpsired from “Casper”.

Mr. Bean – The Current Inspiration Craze in Bollywood

When we talk Comedy, among the first 10 names which come to our mind unarguably include Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean. We all just love his hilarious episodes of the serial and also the few films he has done. His works are like a must for every cinema lover’s home video collection.Bollywood film-makers and actors were inspired by his comedy earlier also but recently many new releases have just used the exact sequences from his famous episodes of the serial “Mr. Bean”.

      1.       Earlier we saw Govinda doing an inspired act in his film when he gets dressed up while he is also driving his car.

      2.       Recently released “Dhamaal” had Ritesh Deshmukh doing his “Spy Act” a scene from “JOHNY ENGLISH”

      3.       “Dhamaal” also had Javed Jaffery copying his exact sequence, when his hand gets stuck in the back pocket of a man.

      4.       The most recent release “One Two Three” has Sunil Shetty copying Atkinson in two scenes. In the first scene he leaves his one shoe at the top of a car and the car moves on taking his shoe. And in another scene he tries to dry his wet pants at a dryer in the washroom.

There may be many more sequences which couldn’t be noticed but it only shows how brillianlty Rowan Atkinson has performed in his limited appearances. He no doubt has a great influence on comedy makers all over. Would really love to see him more often in movies.

"Black & White" – Subhash Ghai gets inspired

As the end credits role, I am left surprised why the filmmakers keep on using the same plot again & again even when they know that it has been exploited before by others in the industry. We have all seen the plot of “Inviting a new person to live in your house who in disguise is a terrorist and a suicide bomber” used many time before also.
The main source behind the inspiration is “The Devil’s Own” which came in 1997 starring Harrison Ford as the house owner & Brad Pitt as the guest. It was followed by Raj Kanwar’s “Baadal” released in 2000, in which Amrish Puri played the host and Bobby Deol was the terrorist. We also witnessed the similar kind of thing in the second half of Maniratnam’s “Dil Se” (1998) which had Manisha Koirala, staying in Shahrukh’s house. And now again it is repeated in “Black & White”.
There is an inspired “Climax” too. The similar kind of climax you may recall in “Dil Se” and “Hu Tu Tu” when the suicide bomber is heading towards a national meeting place on 15th August or 26th January. It was sad to see this coming from the house of Subhash Ghai.

Bombai Ka Babu (1960)

The story of this Dev Anand starrer and Raj Khosla directed movie is written by famous writer Rajinder Singh Bedi. But the plot is quite similar to O’Henry’s short story “The Double-Dyed Deceiver”, except the love angle inserted in the stroyline. A movie was also made on this story with the same title in 1920.

Baazigar

It was a Hit, a gripping movie and a Well Made one too, but it took most of its inspiration from “A Kiss Before Dying”. To believe it just chek out :

Badshah

I really liked “Badshah” (1999) for its comic and comedy feel. But sadly most of the scenes were inspired from English Flicks like : “Nick Of Time”, “The Mask”, “Rush Hour”, “Mr. Nice Guy” & “If Looks Could Kill” (1991 also known as Teen Agent)

Bunty Aur Babli

The famous Abhishek & Rani Mukherjee Starrer “Bunty Aur Babli” is partly inspired from a famous con movie “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967). It is not a copy but the idea of a couple looting people around and even the title of the movie seems to be highly inspired. Whereas the English Classic is a crime thriller, where the couple is brutely killing poeple, this one has been transformed more into a comedy thriller kind of a movie.

Regarding the content of the movie just check out at :

Bas Ek Pal

The whole content of this movie is taken from Spanish movie called “Carne trémula” (1997) or “Live Flesh” Directed by Pedro Almodover. Its an interesting plot but could be adapted in more impressive way. Check out at :

Black

Many of us know the original source for “Black” which was “THE MIRACLE WORKER” Still Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Amitabh & Rani did a fine job. But I liked the amazing act by the Child Actor more than anybody else. The only regret is that they could have given credit to the original picture. I thinks that must be the reason why it was not sent as an Official Entry for the Oscars as the original already had won it in its time.
