Love Story 2050 – “Back To The Future” & “The Time Machine”

Inspirations to this movie include “Back To The Future” series & “The Time Machine”.

The sequence of Priyanka dying in an accident is highly inspired. In the English original “The Time Machine”, the hero goes back in the past to change the happenings and tries to save his girlfriend. But each time he goes back she dies in a different manner. That part of the plot is more interesting than going into the future and winning over the girl again.

The uncle and kid relationship is very similat to the “Back To The Future” series.

If you surely want to enjoy the Time Machine rides then you must watch the three movie series of “Back To The Future” & “The Time Machine”

Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega

This comedy thriller is loosely based on “FARGO” (1996) & “Ruthless People” (1986). Interestingly these movies were also inspired by real life incidents which happened in the late eighties in the west and were in news all over.

Lakhon Ki Baat (1984)

Many of us rate this movie as a highly entertaining one, which had fresh and innovative storyline. There is the entertaining and amusing act by Sanjeev Kumar as the looser lawyer who files a case for compensation for his brother in law Farookh Sheikh. The unimitable Utpal Dutt is also there to deliver the right comic touches.
Though the film is well acted and entertaining but at the same time its not an original work.
Heavily takes the content from : “The Fortune Cookies” (1966)

Lagaan

A rare and very successful attempt by one of the most serious actors of Bollywood, Aamir Khan. And brilliantly directed and scripted movie. The film really was a tough and dare choice to make, as it had a match going on in most of the time and was completely around the game played by the poor farmers against the Britishers. What I liked the most about the film was the starting sequence where Amir disturbs the hunting by the British Officer. The sequence is a pure gem.
As fas as inspirational part goes, Lagaan is an Original in itself. For reference there are some movies made with the similar kind of theme.

There is “Victory” (1981) in which prisoners play a Football match against the officers.

There are also close similiarities with “Mystery, Alaska!” in which all city people join together to play a match forgetting their diferences.

Our own “Naya Daur” also had a similar kind of subject.

But these are only similar references, and in “Lagaan” we have a movie which can be called as a true masterpiece from Indian Cinema.
